This exhibition explores ancient runes, the script of the Old Norse and the Vikings before the introduction of the Latin alphabet in the 12th century. Not only a simple representation of sound, each rune was imbued with symbolism, mystery and association with specific gods in Norse mythology. This ancient alphabet is interpreted in painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, book and textile arts. Gallery hours: Tues, Wed 11am-3pm; Sun 1-4pm.
